Bridges

Made of a precious metal base, a dental bridge is used when there are fewer teeth to replace, or when the missing teeth are only on one side of the mouth. If the bridge is visible when you smile, porcelain will be bonded to the base.

Missing teeth could be replaced for a number of reasons, such as having a missing tooth could affect your appearance or put strain on the teeth on either side of the gap.

A gap can also mean your bite is affected, because the teeth next to the space can lean into the gap and change the way the upper and lower teeth touch. This can then lead to food getting stuck in the gap, causing decay and gum disease.
